Steps: 16,000

Currently reading: Confessions of a Sociopath: A Life Spent Hiding in Plain Sight by M.E. Thomas

Currently watching: Industry

I don’t know the best way to record the number of steps that I do per day. Maybe I will move to writing the steps for the day before.

I went to walk in the park this afternoon, but it was warm and I didn’t go as far as I had planned. I went back later and walked again before dinner when the sun had gone down some. I was going to go for an evening walk, but there were fireworks so my dog didn’t want to walk any more. I debated going for a walk without my dog, but I already leave her alone so much with work that I don’t like the idea of leaving her when I go for a walk. Also, she is so scared of the fireworks. I was hoping to get 20,000 steps in today, but I still did pretty good.

I have been wearing my Brooks Glycerine 20s that I bought on clearance. They have lots of wear on them because I have been walking quite a bit lately. I didn’t expect to like them more than the Hoka Clifton’s for walking long distances, but I think I do. I ordered a newer model of the Brooks Glycerines and will trade them out soon.

I’ve been tracking my steps with my Coros watch. I went with the Coros Pace 4 in white. I thought if I didn’t want an Apple Watch, I would have to get an expensive Garmin. Instead this one was even cheaper than the Apple Watch, and I like it so much more. I got it about a month ago and it has really helped me get more steps in.

The battery on the Coros lasts forever, and it measures all of the things that I want it to measure. I think there are some more things it does that I haven’t figured out yet, but mostly I want to see flights of stairs, step count, and heart rate. I think if I go up into he mountains at some point I will be really glad to see the oxygen tracker. I can get bad altitude sickness, and I want to see what it reads for the altitude and oxygen levels.

I’m not sure how I feel about the book that I am reading, Confessions of a Sociopath. The author is insufferable, but I suppose that should have been expected given the title. Some of the things she says in the book are cringey, and the author seems to have limited amounts of self-awareness. It’s hard to say how much of it is because the book came out over a decade ago and how much of it is that she is just a selfish writer.

Including watching TV as anything referred to as productivity does feel a little silly, but I have been wanting to get caught up on the series. I started watching Industry a while ago and was really enjoying it. I fell off most of the way through the first season, and it was long enough ago that I couldn’t remember the details. I watched the first season again from the start, and am a few episodes into the second season. I have seen people comparing it to Succession, which I absolutely loved. I don’t think it is quite as good as Succession, but it is very good.

I didn’t get any knitting done on my hat. Today one of my friends at work asked how it was coming along, because she saw me working on it when we were slow for the holidays. I want to get it done in the next week, so that I can wear it if it gets cold again. I lost some of my motivation because of the warm front that came through, but its only the beginning of January so it will hopefully get cold again.

I ordered a Rhodia Webplanner calendar and it came today. The paper inside is very nice. I buy one every year, and almost never write anything in it, but I like to have the calendar to consult. Maybe this year will be the year I write in it more. Ha. Usually I get it from a store in town, but they were sold out so I had to order online, which is why it came after the 1st. I dislike the orange color that Rhodia is so committed to using. This year I went with the burgundy color, the same that I had last year. I have had most of their colors at some point, and I like the burgundy and the sage the best, but sage wasn’t available.
